Easy to use development tool now has easy to use database.
March 8, 2006 -- NS BASIC Corporation today announced the release of NS Basic/CE 6.1, which features full support for SQLite, a popular, easy to use industry standard SQL based database engine.
NS Basic/CE is a VB-like development tool. It allows the development of applications on a Windows desktop computer which will run on Windows Mobile, Pocket PC and Windows CE devices. A unique feature of the development tool is that it can also be used on the device to develop apps.

SQLite is an open source database engine that implements most of the SQL92 database standard. It is well known for its speed, dependability and small footprint. SQLite databases can be used on most major platforms, including Windows, Windows CE, Mac and Linux.
Also announced today is NS Basic/Desktop 2.1, which adds support for SQLite as well. NS Basic/Desktop allows apps to be created for Windows XP and Windows 2000. Code for NS Basic/Desktop and NS Basic/CE is interchangeable, so it is easy to write applications that run on Windows Mobile, CE, Pocket PC, XP and 2000.
SQLite is being added to NS Basic/CE without extra charge. It can be distributed royalty free with NS Basic apps. Registered users of NS Basic/CE 6.0 can upgrade to 6.1 for free, while users of older versions can upgrade for a small fee. The new release includes complete installers, samples and documentation for SQLite.
