"Just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team for developing
NS Basic and for all the excellent support -- and patience -- you've
provided over the past two years as I migrated Pocket VetGo from eVB to
NS Basic. Actually, migration isn't the correct word. I actually
redesigned Pocket VetGo from scratch and rewrote it in NS Basic/CE. I
found that NS Basic/CE is a much easier development environment than eVB
or .NET. The resulting executable requires a much smaller footprint,
loads faster, and performs dozens of times better. Also, the learning
curve to transition from eVB to NS Basic/CE is minimal compared to going
to .NET.
I've been working with NS Basic/CE and NS Basic/Desktop for two years
now and will never develop in any other environment. Good job on
creating these development environments and thanks again for the
excellent support. I've never received such personal attention to
requests for help and such quick responses. You guys are really the
best and should be the model by which the rest of the software industry
measures itself.
Thanks again for everything." -- Mike DeAndrea, CEO;
Developer of Pocket VetGo

NSBasic is a truly exceptional piece of software and I have very much
enjoyed using it to assess it's usefulness in creating a number of small
but important bespoke apps for my place of employment.
It certainly came through with flying colours -- Stuart Henderson |
On a side note, I've got a few scripts I was playing around with that if you want to check out and maybe use as future samples or something, I'd be happy to send... I've got one that uses the code for a Ping command written in Vbscript to ping several servers.... When checking to see if your mail server, company website, etc. are all working, it opens a form and puts up check-boxes for the various servers. If it can ping them, it places a check on that server's check-box. I also have it check Yahoo and Google to more less help me tell if the problem is in my internet connect, the server, etc...
I have another one that list the service packs and Hot Fixes installed on your computer, again this come from a sample I picked up somewhere and have the output go to a list-box rather than just print on the screen its output. The listbox is scrollable and all hotfixes are listed below the service packs....
Also, for the heck of it, I did a benchmark test on that program I got and your program.... Thought you might like to see the results (Relax, yours is the fastest!) VBS2EXE.EXE compiled the program to a 1.4MB file, while NSBasic made a 307k file and the original script is 370 bytes....
Original: 226676.1 (100%)
Compiled: 227433.2 (100.3340%)
NSBasic: 244708.6 (107.9552%)
(Seeing as how the numbers represent how much the program counted while waiting for the time to elapse, that reveals that NSBasic was the fastest with VBS2EXE being only slightly faster that the original code.... Not 100% suprising, what's more suprising is from what I read on the internet about how programs like VBS2EXE work, its a miracle it's even a slight bit faster and not slower than the original program, though you do still have the security of the code being compiled and not easily tampered with....
I'd say bragging rights are in order for you once again ;-) -- John Guillory

I really like the concept
of Instant EXE, but their
support is not so good. I have a feeling they might be going away soon.
Anyway, I have to move
to another toolset and have a history with NSBasic 2.x for Palm
I'm focused on calculators because they gave me hope as a young adult
and vision into the future,
as in the case of forecasting. When I was a kid, my father gave me a
little plastic adding device. I figured
out how to use it and could forecast when we would get to grandma's
house by watching the signs for
miles to go. I never once had to ask "are we there yet." I want to build
tools that students can use to
bring vision in these troubling times. I'm sure that their parents could
use some hope too.
Anyway, I'm disabled and waiting for my disability social security to
kick in, and thought I'd take on this
project while I still have time to do something constructive. I've
considered several basic platforms, but
none of them have helped me the way you have. Thanks!!! -- John Franklin, PhD |
Soweit funktioniert das
unter NS Basic wunderbar, was mit Purebasic aufwändiger ist. Also ich bin
begeistert, wie schnell ich das kleine Programm
in Verbindung mit meiner Hardware anwenden kann. -- Falko Luensmann |
I've spent the afternoon testing some fairly complex VBScript and it works great with NS. And a lot better than having to recode it all .Net. -- Shane Dark, UK |
