March 14, 1997
NS BASIC Corporation announced that is shipping NS BASIC 3.60, with full support for the new Apple eMate 300, with capabilities specifically designed to make NS BASIC an exciting teaching tool.
"Schools are looking for ways to teach modern programming methods, including graphics and multimedia, that will hold the student's interest as well as translate into useful skills." said George Henne, President of NS BASIC. "Together with Apple's new eMate 300, we think we've got a great solution."
NS BASIC is a powerful and easy to use development environment based on the widely used programming language, BASIC. The language goes way beyond basic BASIC, providing extensions such as multimedia, structured code and internet programming. "It's the easiest way to learn visual programming," said Henne.
Programming is done directly on the eMate 300, supporting its anyplace, anytime theme. NS BASIC is useful both as a method for teaching programming skills and as tool for mathematical and scientific coursework, doing data collection and analysis.
"This thing is great! Nice, clean presentation and specs" said reviewer Mark Holmes of Intromation,"... could be a "must have" in the students' standard software config."
With an attached modem, NS BASIC can be used to easily teach the fundamentals of internet programming, including mail, news and the world wide web.
Specifically for schools and teachers, NS BASIC Corporation will be providing an NS BASIC Tutorial and NS BASIC Teacher's Manual. These includes quizzes, answer keys, slides and other materials to aid in curriculum planning and coursework.
NS BASIC has thousands of users worldwide, in over 35 countries. Besides schools, it is being used by business, government, research and universities.
NS BASIC is $99.00 USD plus shipping directly from the Apple Educational Catalog, or from its dealers. Eight packs and site licences for schools are also available. NS BASIC Corporation can be reached at 77 Hill Crescent, Toronto, Canada M1M 1J3, fax (416) 264-5888, or at www.nsbasic.com.
