NS BASIC announces multimedia extension!
March 15, 1997

NS BASIC Corporation demonstrated today how NS BASIC can be used to play movies on Newton devices, including the MessagePad 2000 and eMate 300. With the new software, Quicktime movies can be transferred and played back.

Since the playback is under the direct control of the BASIC program, playback can be customized and special effects can be added.

"With this technology, users can integrate short clips of movies into their applications," said George Henne, President of NS BASIC, "there are all sorts of cool possibilities. We believe this to be the first commercially available method for displaying movies on Newton devices."

A demonstration can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.nsbasic.com/pub/MovieDemo.sit.

NS BASIC is a powerful and easy to use development environment based on the widely used programming language, BASIC. The language goes way beyond basic BASIC, providing extensions such as multimedia, structured code and internet programming.

The new development tools are available to be downloaded at no charge from NS BASIC's web site. Prerequisites include NS BASIC itself, Newton Press and a Mac.

NS BASIC has thousands of users worldwide, in over 40 countries. It is being used by schools, business, government, research and universities.

NS BASIC is $99.00 USD plus shipping directly from the Apple Educational Catalog, or from its dealers. Eight packs and site licences for schools are also available. NS BASIC Corporation can be reached at 77 Hill Crescent, Toronto, Canada M1M 1J3, fax (416) 264-5888, or at www.nsbasic.com.
