See this link for more information. Judge's Comments: Smart use of NS Basic. It is used for the user interface and database: the actual communications uses a custom wireless protocol implemented in C as a shared library that is called from NS Basic.

CarbonCalculator by Dave LaBenne This calculates furnace carbon levels based on carbon probe and/or 3 gas analysis. Results are checked against a material analysis for calibration. It works with Marathon Sensors, Inc. carbon control system. Judge's Comments: A useful tool for a very specific need.

SteamProp by Bob Anderson Steam Properties is program that calculates the thermodynamic and transport properties of steam using the equations found in ASME Steam Tables, 5th edition. Other applications currently being developed include steam turbine calculations. Judge's Comments: The critical part of the complex calculations needed are done in a shared library written in C. This delivers a nice UI with a powerful calculation engine underneath. | ||
SurveyPal by Ken Wick This application does a bunch of calculations to help the surveyor in the field. Judge's Comments: Once you're done with your survey, you can save it to the Memo Pad. The UI could use a bit of work, but the intent is certainly very useful.

VASco by Chris Burton This app is a symptom diary. Patients carry a Palm around and track their symptoms over time. The program collects the data for analysis by a physician. Email Chris for a copy of the latest version. Judge's Comments: This app has several nice features. The use of a bar to enter subjective data works well. The app connects with the datebook to remind the user it to record the latest entry. It suggests a way Palms could be used in many kinds of trials. | ||
