The games in NS Basic Contest 4 were the best entries we've ever seen in a contest. The final outcome was very close. There were a number of entries that would have easily won in previous contests, but the level has gone up considerably. There are some great techniques in these apps, but what struck us more was the maturity they displayed: great graphics, good use of sound, clear instructions and compelling game action.
Andromeda Match Game by Blaine Leckett ***WINNER*** "I must say NSBasic is getting better all the time!" Judge's Comments: Stunning graphics and sound. This looks and feels as good as any game for Palm. It's intuitive to use, can be played in English or Japanese. It's a jewel. |
AristoWord by Kurt AristoWord feature hundreds of analogies for you to solve. Get enough of them correct and you'll make the highscore list. Feel the joy as your stick figure is pardoned, and feel the grief as he is sent to meet Madame Guillotine. You would have never thought that solving analogies was so much fun! Judge's Comments: Thinking man's Hangman. |

Bomber by Naoki Ueyama This is a game to destroy bricks by bombs. Try to place bombs to cause chain reactions. Explode bombs by putting a fire flame beside that appears periodically. Judge's Comments: Needs Japanese device to run. |

Buzz Words by John Duckworth "Thanks for everything you do to help make NSBasic successful.
" Judge's Comments: Good game, nice graphics. You can waste a lot of time on this one! |

CardSuite by Dean Clark "I have been very impressed with NS Basic/Palm since I started using it
last year. I have a lot of experience with Visual Basic and QuickBasic so
I found it very easy to learn. My only complaints are that the Draw
commands do not support color or grayscale graphics and there is no
support for high-resolution graphics. As you will see in my program I
managed to work around the Draw command issue by using Bitmaps." Judge's Comments: Wow! Great graphics, nice play action, and a comprehensive set of card games and solitare. This one really impressed the judges and should have a good future as a commercial product. |

Center GURI!? by mizuno-ami Judge's Comments: Simple game. |

Take A Guess by designsbybert In this game you have to guess a word. The only hint you will be given is the Category the word belongs to. On the go, during the break, keeping the kids occupied it doesn't matter you can play it wherever and whenever you want to. Judge's Comments: Some really cute graphics here, and not a bad game at all. |
||
TicTacTough by Paul Kowalski Judge's Comments: Just how tough can Tic Tac Toe be? But the graphics are great, and the game works well. |

Triple R by mizuno-ami Triple R is 'Rolling Round Radar'. Catch all 'CyberSnail' in dark room using radar. Judge's Comments: While a simple game, there are some interesting graphics tricks going on. |
